Job Description :-
Must have Skills
- Strong proficiency in Hyper-V virtualization technology on multi cluster enterprise environments.
- Strong proficiency in Windows Server (2012, 2016, 2019 and 2022) administration, configuration, troubleshooting, and security.
- In-depth knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and other Windows Server roles and features.
- Strong understanding of Storage integration (SAN, NAS)
- Strong experience on patching, updates and upgrades management, including wave definition and planning, rollout and troubleshooting.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve server and virtualization-related issues.
- Understanding of networking concepts and protocols such as TCP/IP, VLAN, VPN, etc.
- Strong documentation skills
Nice to have skills
- Relevant certifications would be a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Capacity planning and performance tuning for Hyper-V environments.
- Familiarity with backup and recovery solutions for virtualized environments.
- Understanding of software-defined networking (SDN) concepts.
- Knowledge of server hardware (mainly Dell & HP) and integration with virtualization platforms.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to think proactively and contribute with innovative suggestions for enhancing virtualization infrastructure efficiency, security and reliability.
- Ability to conduct effective capacity analysis and future planning, ensuring optimal performance and scalability of the virtualization infrastructure.
- Experience in scripting and automation using PowerShell, Python, or other languages.
- Exposure to DevOps tools and methodologies such as Git, Ansible, Jenkins, etc.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, such as Azure or AWS, and hybrid cloud environments.
Key activities & role during transition
- Get to know and evaluate the current virtualization and Windows Server landscape to identify areas for improvement.
- Review current virtualization and OS documentation and update it accordingly to new findings.
- Collaborate closely with transition counterparts, to understand and gain familiarity with current operational methods.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a smooth transition.
- Document and communicate changes in the infrastructure during the transition.
Key tasks and responsibilities for regular operations
- Monitor and maintain the health and performance of virtualized environments and Windows Servers (physical or virtual).
- Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with organizational policies.
- Respond to and resolve incidents, service requests, and escalations related to virtualization and Windows Server issues.
- Perform regular system updates, patches, and upgrades according to current policies.
- Optimize server and virtualization configurations for efficiency and resource utilization.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate servers with network and storage infrastructure.
- Engage in proactive capacity analysis to ensure the virtualization environment meets current demands and is prepared for future growth.
- Develop and maintain documentation for configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- Collaborate on an operational and lifecycle roadmap.
