Job Description
An ELK Engineer participates in event data capture, storage an reporting for critical systems availability. You will work with different application teams in defining Event Data Models and capture process. Also, you will be developing dash-boards for visualizing the data from multiple event streams.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Strong experience in using Elastic search Indices, Elastic search APIs, Kibana Dashboards, Log stash and Log Beats.
Good experience in using or creating plugins for ELK like authentication and authorization plugins. - Handling huge elasticsearch cluster with more than a 100 nodes.
- Onboarding of applications to elastic observability by installing elastic agents via fleet, apm agents on various types of setup of applications.
- Logstash installation and configuration, configure persistent queues.
- Understanding of ingest pipelines and fleet.
- Tuning of pipelines and elasticsearch.
- Support application team to create Kibana dashboards for technical, business views and KPI’s.
- Manage users and roles in elastic by integrating to Identity management system/LDAP
- Create/modify and manage logstash pipelines for onboarding metrics, logs and data from various data sources (cloud resources, salesforce, databases, etc..)
- Manage the elastic deployments for different environments
- Experience working with docker and kubernetes is a plus.
- Build developer centric tools for observability, identify performance bottlenecks and operational issues as well as resolving them and facilitate collaboration with other engineers, product owners, and designers to handle exciting and complex problems in the context of observability.
- Minimum of 2 years of development experience in related fields like Observability, Site Reliability Engineering, Distributed Computing
- Hands-on experience in working on AWS, Azure, GCP(atleast one) preferred.
- Preferable experience in developing scripting languages (any one required such as Python, JAVA, JavaScript, .NET)
- Experience in integrating ELK with enterprise tools and APIs, for example for authentication and authorization.
- Capacity Planning of Elastic Search Cluster.
- Experience in Designing & Data Modelling, Bulk Document Indexing & Search API’s in Elastic Search.
- Experience in designing and implementing complex development use cases and scenarios using Basic Programming Language knowledge.
- Experience in using Elastic Search Cluster Monitoring Tools (Marvel).
- Knowledge of scripting languages like JavaScript, Python, PowerShell, etc.
