Job Description :
Must have Skills:
- Proven proficiency in the design, implementation, and management of backup solutions using Dell EMC Networker integrated with Data Domain, protecting data from:
- Microsoft Hyper-V clusters;
- Physical and virtual servers running Microsoft Windows and Suse Linux;
- Oracle RMAN.
- Proven hands-on experience with next-gen modern backup solutions such as Veeam, Rubrik, and other industry-leading technologies.
- In-depth knowledge of backup and recovery best practices, including data deduplication, compression, and encryption.
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to diagnose and resolve backup and recovery issues promptly, ensuring minimal impact on operations.
- Ability to create and maintain comprehensive documentation for backup configurations, policies, procedures, and troubleshooting guidelines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure.
Nice to have skills:
- Relevant certifications would be a plus.
- Familiarity with cloud-based backup solutions, including integration with platforms like Azure and/or AWS.
- Experience in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation of backup processes and routine tasks.
- Understanding of storage technologies and their integration with backup systems/solutions.
- Knowledge of disaster recovery planning and execution, ensuring data availability in the event of a catastrophic failure.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to think proactively and contribute with innovative suggestions for enhancing backup infrastructure efficiency and reliability.
- Ability to conduct effective capacity analysis and planning, ensuring optimal performance and scalability of the backup infrastructure.
Key activities & role during transition:
- Get to know and evaluate the existing backup infrastructure, identify areas for improvement, review current backup documentation, and update it accordingly to new findings.
- Collaborate closely with transition counterparts to understand the existing backup infrastructure architecture, setup, configurations, and to gain familiarity with current operational methods.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a smooth transition.
- Collaborate on an operational and lifecycle roadmap.
Key tasks and responsibilities for regular operations:
- Perform day-to-day management of the backup infrastructure
- Perform daily backup and restore operations
- Monitor backup performance, promptly respond to backup failures, troubleshoot issues, and ensure timely data recovery.
- Maintain backup policies and schedules according to best practices and organization requirements.
- Implement and maintain security measures for the backup infrastructure, ensuring compliance with standards.
- Monitor backup target’s storage capacity, optimize resource usage, and collaborate on planning for expansions as needed.
- Collaborate with IT teams for seamless integration of backup solutions with broader infrastructure, including onboarding of new workloads or servers.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of the backup infrastructure, processes, and configurations to support ongoing operations and future improvements.
- Keep documentation updated and generate regular reports on backup performance and status.
- Identify and implement opportunities for improving backup strategies and procedures.
- Evaluate and implement new backup technologies and solutions, such as Veeam, Rubrik, etc
